The Debating Matters 'Changing Age' event is a joint initiative with Newcastle University and its Institute for Ageing and Health.
This project builds on the work of the Institute of Ideas’ Debating Matters Competition, supported by Pfizer and the Wellcome Trust since its inception. The day of debate and discussion, involving eight schools from across the North East of England, will consider the contemporary issue of ageing from a scientific, medical and social context.

Centring around student debates on two key themes – expanding the human lifespan and the issue of older mums – the schools taking part will debate each other as well as have the opportunity to listen to, challenge, and be challenged by, eminent guest speakers and debate judges.
