Ashby School
Nottingham Road Ashby-de-la-Zouch Leicestershire LE65 1DT
“Ashby School is a mixed comprehensive school for students aged 14 to 19. Its long and proud history can be traced back to August 1567 when a boys’ school was first founded in Ashby. It remains at the forefront of educational progress. In 2006, the school successfully renewed its Technology College status and was also awarded a second specialism, becoming a Specialist Languages College. See Specialist Schools status.
As a result, the school provides students with outstanding opportunities and facilities in both of these subject areas. Students also achieve impressive results in subjects across the curriculum. GCSE examination results are consistently high and, in recent years, the school has been among the top performing state schools in Leicestershire. Advanced level examination grades are also well above the national average. In 2008, students achieved the school’s highest A level pass rate ever – at 98.5 per cent. It is hoped that, by giving students a broad and balanced education, Ashby School can ensure that they go on to achieve personal happiness and economic well-being.”
