Bennett Memorial Diocesan School
Culverden Down Tunbridge Wells Kent TN49SH
“In 1976 Bennett became a comprehensive school, admitting students of all abilities from a large part of the Diocese of Rochester, rather than just Tunbridge Wells. This led to the development of the Bennett Sixth Form as a centre of excellence at 16-plus, with students moving on to universities across the country. Next, Bennett began its transformation into a fully co-educational school. Boys were first admitted in 1993, and in 2000 the first, fully co-educational cohort moved on to university. In 2003, Bennett achieved specialist school status as a technology college. In an increasingly technological world, we seek to provide the very best technology to support teaching and learning. In recognition of outstanding performance over a sustained period, Bennett was also designated by the DCSF from 2008 a specialist languages school, enabling us to invest in language teaching and learning, and make available an exciting and innovative range of language learning opportunities to students to equip them better for living in the international world we are increasingly becoming.”
