Casemir Chocolates manufacture around three tonnes of fresh cream chocolates a month under the close supervision of head chocolatier Frederic Blondeel and his assistant Sylvie Oidtmann. Casemir recognise the importance of freshness in the making of luxury chocolates. The exacting standards that Casemir implement mean we only use cream, premium cocoa beans and dairy butter ensuring the chocolates are free of artificial flavours, colours and preservatives. These qualities combined with the high degree of craftsmanship result in a velvety smooth chocolate with an intense aroma and flavour. One of Casemir’s unique qualities is the use of chocolate warmers as the only significant chocolate making machinery. Our chocolate petit fours are carefully handcrafted by being cut on marble and enrobed in chocolate. We are proud to have won a number of awards year on year in the UK Great Taste Challenge. In 2005 we won two Golds, a Silver and a Bronze. In 2006 we won a Gold award again with our Dill chocolate. In 2007 our Spiced Biscuit also won Gold. Every year, we also admit some students from overseas. Some parents think that only Catholic children are admitted to St Mary’s. This is not the case. The majority of students are Catholic, from local Catholic primary schools but we also admit many children of all other Faith backgrounds and primary schools whose parents wish them to benefit from an education in a Catholic school setting. Every child who joins St Mary’s, whatever their Faith background or ethnic origin, is welcomed equally into the school and can benefit from an excellent all round education.”
St Mary’s was judged to be an Outstanding school by Ofsted and by the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle in 2009. Students’ academic achievement, personal development, well being and behaviour were all judged outstanding. Fewer than 2 out of 10 secondary schools are currently classified as outstanding and so we are proud of our place in a select group of high achieving schools. Our exam results are consistently high. We have been ranked in the top 2%-3% of all schools in the country and in the north-east for the last three years against a range of examination benchmarks.

The Girls’ Academy was based in a single room in the newly-built Mercy Convent on Northland Row. Both schools moved to new premises on Killyman Road in September 1901; the Academy building was to be the home of the school for the next seventy years. The Boys’ Academy was always led by the clergymen appointed by the Tyrone Roman Catholic Board of Education, while the Girls’ Academy was led by a senior member of the Sisters of Mercy. The Academy eventually outgrew its home on the Killyman Road. In 1975, the two schools moved to a new building on the Killymeal Road. Although housed in the same building, the Boys’ Academy and Girls’ Academy were two distinct and separate institutions. The phenomenal growth in the student numbers and need to provide the very best educational provision has resulted in the formal amalgamation of the Boys’ and Girls’ Academies with effect from 2003.”

“The central aim of Solihull School is to provide for every pupil as rich a life at school as possible, so that school life is a time of fulfilment and happiness, and a preparation for life as a good adult in society. We believe that this richness comprises four elements. Our aim is to ensure that all pupils fulfil their academic potential throughout their time in school. Such fulfilment will involve not only success in examinations, but also the development of a love of learning and the capacity to work independently. Thereby the pupils will gain a sense of achievement and confidence, and this will be vital to their progress in life, usually through further education, into a rewarding career. The world into which our pupils will pass has more opportunities, more diversity and complexity than ever before, and yet there is a danger of a loss of values and a narrowing of aspirations to the simply material. Our aim is to prepare our pupils for the world, so that they are open to all the possibilities of being fully human. The life of the mind encompasses the joy of learning and passion for ideas, art, music and literature, the understanding of other cultures, the enquiry into faith and values.”

In our community we know that everyone is created in the image of God and we seek to ensure that everyone is able to make the most of their unique talents. We know it is our duty to help one another to grow in maturity and to learn together to the best of our ability. In our community we seek to follow Jesus’ instruction “Love one another as I have loved you, so you must love one another” (Jn.13). We put other peoples’ needs before our own. We work for justice and peace in the world. Our motto “May they all be one ... so that the world may believe” reminds us that in our day we should be martyrs (which means witnesses) to Jesus’ love in action. National Institute for Health & Clinical Excellence
MidCity Place 71 High Holborn London WC1V 6NA
The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence provides guidance for the UK National Health Service on the most effective way to diagnose, treat and prevent disease and ill health.
We do this by gathering authoritative, evidence-based information on the clinical and cost effectiveness of new and existing treatments and technologies. Our independent committees, made up of doctors, nurses, health technologists, patients and the public, then consider this information. They make recommendations to the NHS, and to organisations such as local authorities and charities that are also responsible for delivering healthcare in their communities.
We are often asked to make difficult decisions about how a healthcare system with a finite pot of money can best use its resources to provide good health for all. We believe that it is important that society has the opportunity to discuss and debate these important issues, which is why we are proud to be sponsors of the Debating Matters Competition.

At eaga we are passionate about eradicating social ills such as fuel poverty and tackling environmental challenges from climate change. Indeed, by making households more energy efficient we are helping in the drive to more sustainable, low-carbon lifestyles. It is crucial that all households – including the most vulnerable and low-income households – can share in the benefits of this shift. Issues such as this should be at the heart of social policy and decision-making and we need to listen very carefully to younger people as we put in place actions that will shape their future.

Whilst we place a high priority on the traditional qualities of hard work, discipline, courtesy and consideration for others, we believe we have embraced the best of modern teaching strategies and resources.”

“It seems that education is constantly changing. One thing, however, does not change; this Catholic school belongs to you and your children. It works best if you as parents are prepared to share your responsibilities with us in a trinity of school, parents and parish. Our children need this co-operative support if they are to develop in a truly Christian way. We enjoy a good reputation within the community as a successful school. This is entirely due to the joint efforts of highly committed teachers, parents, clergy, support staff and pupils. We have been a Technology College since 1996. In order to maintain Specialist School status it has been necessary to make a commitment to a technology college ethos and culture. As well as establishing and improving links with local business and industry, it has been necessary to show a continuous improvement at all levels of public examination results in particular, maths, science and technology. We have had to show that an increased proportion of Year 11 students stay on at Sixth Form and to demonstrate further development of Vocational courses for 14 to 19 year olds.”

We understand that the curriculum, both within taught lessons and beyond them, should create an environment where questioning, divergent thinking and the freedom to learn from mistakes are all encouraged. We intend that our curriculum should imbue in our students these qualities: responsibility, independence, and a sense that learning can thrill and invigorate throughout life.”

Cranbrook School
Waterloo Road Cranbrook Kent TN17 5JD
“Cranbrook’s story is a remarkable one. We remain what we always were, the free Grammar School of Queen Elizabeth in Cranbrook, now translated into a thriving, co-educational, academic, grammar school. We also remain a major boarding school, offering a fine education to boys and girls from throughout the country, and indeed the world. No other school blends so completely the traditions of State and Independent school.
We aim to offer the best of both traditions - to make available an excellent academic education to pupils living in the school’s area, and to add to it the strengths of a good boarding school, within the maintained system, at a reasonable price.”

We want our girls to enjoy their time here and become fully involved in the life of the School. We expect our pupils to be industrious and behave in a way that makes a positive contribution to the whole school community. We will have achieved our aims if girls leave the School confident that they possess the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding to enable them to take their place in society.”

Bennett Memorial Diocesan School
Culverden Down Tunbridge Wells Kent TN49SH
“In 1976 Bennett became a comprehensive school, admitting students of all abilities from a large part of the Diocese of Rochester, rather than just Tunbridge Wells. This led to the development of the Bennett Sixth Form as a centre of excellence at 16-plus, with students moving on to universities across the country. Next, Bennett began its transformation into a fully co-educational school. Boys were first admitted in 1993, and in 2000 the first, fully co-educational cohort moved on to university. In 2003, Bennett achieved specialist school status as a technology college. In an increasingly technological world, we seek to provide the very best technology to support teaching and learning. In recognition of outstanding performance over a sustained period, Bennett was also designated by the DCSF from 2008 a specialist languages school, enabling us to invest in language teaching and learning, and make available an exciting and innovative range of language learning opportunities to students to equip them better for living in the international world we are increasingly becoming.”
