“In 2007 we chose to specialise in mathematics and computing (ICT) because we recognise the importance of these subjects to every young person. However, to ensure both breadth and balance in our curriculum we are pursuing success as an Arts Mark School and thus far have achieved the silver award. Along side these successes we are very proud to be a Training School providing professional development opportunities for our own staff, trainee teachers and school staff across Central Bedfordshire. Stratton has rightly been recognised as an inclusive school. We are the only upper school in Biggleswade and it is important to us to be seen as providing an appropriate and positive educational experience for every young person in our community. At Stratton we think of ourselves as members of a learning school, which means we are constantly striving for improvement. The most recent OFSTED report (November 2009) recognises the very strong upward trend in GCSE and A level results and describes us as a good school with many outstanding features. Importantly it points out that the school on many occasions demonstrated our ability to recognise and tackle weaknesses and continuously improve. We have the ambition, the vision and the ability to become an outstanding school within the next three years.”
