GordonProfessor Anna Lise Gordon
academic director, secondary initial teacher education
St Mary’s University
Anna Lise taught modern languages in secondary schools in the London area prior to moving into initial teacher education at St Mary’s University. Her particular research interest centres on nurturing the resilience and well-being of early career teachers and their pupils.
In addition, Anna Lise is the current president of the Association for Language Learning, the subject association for modern language teachers in the UK. This role includes speaking at large conferences, requiring a certain amount of resilience and good communication skills like the debaters in this competition!
She has a commitment to developing the linguistic skills of young people and think that debating is a wonderful way to build the necessary confidence and adaptability that young people need to play an active role in a global future.
