    Barrie Neaves gained a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Greenwich and is a Chartered Civil Engineer and a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (C Eng MICE). Barrie is currently employed as the Growth Manager of the Kent & East Sussex Area, Southern Region of the Environment Agency and has been employed by the Environment Agency and its predecessors since 1979. Barrie has worked on all aspects of the water cycle: water resources, wastewater treatment and flood risk management. In recent years Barrie has led the Environment Agency’s response to growth in the county, ensuring development has a positive impact on the environment and is safe from flooding. Barrie represents the Environment Agency on the Ashford’s Future Board and oversees the implementation of the Ashford Integrated Water Management Strategy. As a ‘Man of Kent’ Barrie has a life-time association with the county, is passionate about its environment, countryside and heritage. Away from work Barrie spends most of his time with his horses, and has ridden in Point-to-Points.
