Outer Temple Chambers
Cara Guthrie has practiced as a self-employed barrister for 18 years. She specialises in clinical negligence, but she is also instructed in serious personal injury and lawyers’ professional negligence cases. The vast majority of her cases are in the High Court.
She represents claimants and defendants, in cerebral palsy, other brain injury and spinal injury cases, as well as cases encompassing the full spectrum of medical issues. She acts for claimants and defendants (including NHS LA, the medical defence unions, Bar Mutual Indemnity Fund and various insurers).
Before switching careers to become a barrister, she worked for 3 years in the City as a banker. She studied Engineering at Cambridge University for one year and then changed to read Law.
She is married to a Headmaster and has two daughters, aged 10 and 5.
