Tomlinson OBEChris Tomlinson OBE
Cumbria Community Foundation
In a varied career, Chris has been a teacher, leisure centre manager and auditor before becoming Chief Executive of Cumbria Tourist Board and Cumbria Vision, the Economic Development Company for Cumbria. She was awarded the OBE for services to tourism in 2002. Chris took early retirement to run her own travel company and so that she could do voluntary service overseas in Kazakhstan. She is now training to become an assessor for VSO. She is a Community First Responder and organises The Lakeland Book of the Year Awards annually. Her real passion is sport. Formerly a reasonably successful middle distance runner she also skis, sails, cycles and walks the fells during her rare days off from playing tennis. A major highlight was playing on the hallowed turf at Wimbledon this summer in the British Seniors Championships.
