After a career in the building industry Chris fell into the social work profession during the recession of the late eighties/early nineties. He worked for the probation service then as an Approved Social Worker in Central Manchester before turning to lecturing on social work programmes. His research interests include the impact of sport on society and the links between sporting endeavour and raising money for charity. Chris has articles published on subjects including drug use in sport and the power dynamics in the social work profession.
