    Independent Thinking

    In 2008 David was winner of both the Guardian Award for UK Teacher of the Year and Scottish Teacher of the Year. In the same year, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts and made a National Teaching Fellow of the UK Teaching Awards. He has since become an Associate of Independent Thinking, visiting schools through the UK teaching staff about the imaginative uses of Web 2.0 technologies. He is a consultant with BBC Scotland Learning, a member of the Scottish Government’s CfE Excellence Group, and is working with Glasgow University on a Government-funded project to explore varieties of literacy in 21st learning and teaching. David is a Judge for both the UK Teaching Awards and the Scottish Education Awards; a Visiting Fellow on the Masters in Teaching and Learning (MTL) for Edge Hill University, an Advanced Higher Marker for the Scottish Qualification Authority and a Visiting Tutor to students of the Postgraduate Diploma of Education, Glasgow University.
