    David graduated with a degree in Physics with Medical Applications in 2001 from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Whilst at university, he was Chair of the Student Union, President of the Debating Society and captained the university debating team. After graduation he went to work as a government scientist for the Home Office, working on less-lethal weapons (primarily the introduction of TASERs), police weaponry, counter drugs and counter terrorist technologies. Since 2007 he has worked for the Institute of Physics as Regional Officer for the Midlands. He has been a guest on Radio4’s Material World and Radio Derby. He regularly lectures.
