The Physics Factory
A passion for physics as ‘the dreams that stuff is made of’ is what brought Gareth into teaching in the 1990s after reading the subject at Liverpool University. However, believing that the best teachers are those who have experienced life outside of the classroom, he has also spent time as a Fleet Street journalist and run his own public relations business. He recently gave up being the head of physics at one of the country’s leading grammar schools to teach at the innovative East London Science School, from where he also runs the Physics Factory. This is a unique project, supported by the Mayor of London, to put the fizz back into physics teaching across London’s schools. His spare time is taken up with his two sons, leading walking tours of London and agonising over Arsenal football club.
