    Dr Hera Cook studied History at Birkbeck College after working as a set and costume designer and receiving a New Zealand Arts Council Working Artists Grant. She is currently a lecturer in the history of sexuality and women at the University of Birmingham. She is working on A History of Children and Sexuality in the 20th Century, as well as a biography of Joan Malleson, a sexologist and founding member of the Abortion Law Reform Association and her husband Miles, an actor and playwright. These projects connect the history of sexuality and of emotion in twentieth century Britain.
