Ian Skillicorn began his career in Italy, as a freelance writer and translator. Since 2012 his independent publishing imprint, Corazon Books, has published reissues of bestselling fiction from the twentieth century, and new fiction from debut authors.
For over a decade Ian was an independent advisor to the Metropolitan Police Service, earning a Commendation from the Commander (Head of Homicide Investigations).
Ian is the founder of National Short Story Week, which has included a yearly nationwide writing competition for schools. The anthologies of the winning stories have raised funds for Teenage Cancer Trust and turned a number of year 7 and 8 students into bestselling writers on Amazon. Ian is also the founder of South Liverpool’s annual literature festival the Smithdown Litfest.
He is a member of the Society of Authors and the Chartered Institute of Linguists, and is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
