Jane Hodson studied English at the University of Leeds, before taking an MPhil in Linguistics and a PhD in Literary Linguistics at Wolfson College, Cambridge. She joined the University of Sheffield in 1998. She has been Faculty Director of External Engagement since 2012, working to build mutually beneficial relationships between the university and a range of external organisations. Her research interests lie primarily in Romantic period literature and language. She has written on the French Revolution Debate, women’s rights, prescriptive grammar and dialect in literature.
