    Medical Research Council’s Human Genetics Unit

    Joe read biochemistry at Heriot-Watt University, and then obtained his PhD at the Medical Research Council’s Human Genetics Unit, in Edinburgh, where he works for a clinical geneticist & pediatrician researching the genetic involvement of congenital malformations. Joe is particularly interested in identifying genes required for the growth of eyes during embryonic development by studying mutations in humans and animals that disrupt these events leading to abnormal eye development.
