  • Jon Berry

    Senior Lecturer in Education

    University of Hertfordshire

After teaching English in comprehensive schools for 28 years, Jon moved to the university sector in 2004. His principal work is now with serving teachers who are working on the MA in education. He has been an active trade unionist throughout his working life and was one of the founder members of the Anti SATs Alliance. He is now busy campaigning for two other organisations – Unite Against Fascism and the Anti Academies Alliance. He has been a regular columnist on education in both The Guardian and the TES and is the author of Teachers Legal Rights and Responsibilities, the royalties from which fund the season ticket for his beloved – but frustrating – Birmingham City. Currently, rather late in life, he is also mid-way through his PhD, investigating teachers’ professional autonomy.
