Jonathan was born in Lancaster and brought up Gloucestershire. He studied Metallurgy and Materials at Oxford and joined Rolls-Royce in 2006. He now works in the central Materials function of Rolls-Royce, with responsibility for defining the material make-up of the front, or ‘cold’ end of large civil jet engines.
