    Julian Petley teaches about journalism in the Department of Social Sciences, Media and Communications at Brunel University. His particular interests are media policy, media regulation, the British press, and the British cinema. His most recent book is the edited collection Media and Public Shaming
    (I.B. Tauris), and he is currently working on a new and much updated version of Culture Wars: The media and the left in Britain. He is one of the principal editors of the Journal of British Cinema and Television, a member of the national council of the Campaign for Press and Broadcasting Freedom, and of the advisory board of Index on Censorship. He gave both written and oral evidence to the Leveson Inquiry into the culture, practices and ethics of the British press.
