Lesley completed her LLB and her professional exams in the 70s, when women were finally becoming visible in the legal profession. She qualified in London returning to Birmingham where she practiced for the remainder of her career. A specialist in property development she was involved with projects locally, nationally and internationally. You may know some of the schemes here in the Midlands, for example; the regeneration of Eastside Birmingham which will carry on for many years to come, the long Fleet Street development which leads to Brindley Place, the Aracadian Centre and the new Joseph Chamberlain College Sixth Form College buildings.
Over the years she has successfully mentored many students who became barristers and solicitors. She passionately believes that students should participate in a broad enrichment programme alongside their academic studies. She believes that there will be no losers here today and that every participant will be gaining confidence and experience by participating.
