Programme Manager, Creative Learning & Development
Mark works to advance the case for cultural and creative learning, particularly in schools. He has just joined the RSA, where he will develop action research and policy guidance relating to creativity in education, beginning with establishing a performing arts hub for the RSA’s family of Academies in the West Midlands. Mark studied sociology at Bristol University and acting at East 15 before working as a performer and therapeutic drama practitioner with offenders in prisons and on probation. This led to further work in applied theatre, leading educational and public engagement programmes, including as Creative Learning Director at the Tricycle Theatre and secondary schools and FE programme manager at the National Theatre. Mark is a trustee of Phakama theatre company.
