Matt grew up in Reading and joined the National Youth Theatre in 1988 where he gained his first experience in arts marketing. His first paid job was in a London West End box office, and he went on to study arts management at De Montfort University in Leicester.
Since graduating in 1997, Matt has spent 20 years working professionally in arts marketing, including 10 years as a freelancer and consultant with companies including Shakespeare’s Globe, Bristol Old Vic, the National Theatre of Scotland and the Wales Millennium Centre.
Matt joined Welsh National Opera as director of marketing and sales in 2016.
