Michael is a hearing scientist in the field of “psychoacoustics”, which is a branch of experimental psychology. His research studies how people hear, what happens with hearing-impairment, and how hearing aids can help. He runs an outstation of a Research Unit of the Medical Research Council. His career path was a PhD at Cambridge then postdoctoral work at universities in Nottingham, Connecticut, and Sussex.
