Michael has spent the last 30 years working in the North of England, starting with curatorial and exhibition roles In Wakefield and Bradford, before becoming the first Curator of Modern Art at The Whitworth Art Gallery in Manchester, Keeper of Art at The Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool; Head of Exhibitions and part of the start-up team at Imperial War Museum North in Trafford, and now at The Lowry Salford.
Here he leads the visual arts team that looks after Salford’s collection of paintings and drawings by LS Lowry, and mounts a changing programme of contemporary and digital exhibitions – currently a major retrospective of the work of painter Chantal Joffe, which followed humansbeingdigital – an exhibition of digital work by artists from the around the world.
