  After obtaining a theology degree from Birmingham University Michael worked as an English teacher and broadcaster in South Korea. On returning to England in 1986 he secured a job as a researcher at BBC Radio and has stayed at the Beeb ever since, producing, directing and Exec Producing almost every aspect of religious programming including shows on Radio One and Radio Two and documentaries on TV. In 2001 he became Series Producer of Songs of Praise and he has served as Head of Religion and Ethics since 2006. He lives near Macclesfield and is married with two children and a third due in July.
