  • Naomi Todd

    Law Student & DM Alumnus

    University of Edinburgh

Naomi is currently studying Law, returning to the University of Edinburgh for her final year after an exchange year of clogs, bikes and windmills in the Netherlands.

She’s been involved in Debating Matters since her school team reached the National Finals in 2007 . Impressed by the competition’s focus on substance as well as style, the topical subjects up for debate and the good humoured nature of proceedings, she decided to return as part of Debating Matters alumni team, helping out at last year’s National Final and getting to prepare a topic guide for the qualifying rounds of this year’s competition -  a very rewarding experience for a newspaper geek! She finds the experience of Debating Matters to be extraordinary in that it compels almost everyone involved to realise what they can achieve if they’re prepared to try to the best of their ability. Naomi’s currently trying to write and film a weekly current affairs sketch show (which is almost definitely an entirely stupid ambition, most people involved in Debating Matters will probably come up with more sensible ones) and serving OAPs tea and scones in a cafe in the middle of nowhere.
