Dr Paul A. Taylor is a critical theorist who is originally from Liverpool and thereafter educated at Edinburgh University where he read economics and politics for his undergraduate degree and conducted his PhD thesis on the topic of the early history of computer hackers. He has written about a range of philosophers with relevance to media technologies including Slavoj Zizek and Martin Heidegger and Paul has appeared on a number of Radio 4 and Radio 3 programmes including Woman’s Hour, The Verb, Thinking Allowed, and You and Yours. Paul has maintained a life-long professional interest in ideology’s cultural impact. In recent years, he has cultivated a profoundly pessimistic perspective regarding the largely unchallenged rise of the bureaucratic mind-set and its deleterious effects on public discourse and professional standards.
