    University of Oxford

Pratik is pursuing the MSc in law and finance (MLF) from University of Oxford as a Chevening Weidenfeld Hoffmann scholar. He completed BA, LLB (Hons) from the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences in 2010 and was awarded the PL Khaitan Memorial Gold Medal and the Nani A Palkivala Scholarship by the Chief Justice of India.

Pratik was also the convenor of his university’s Legal Aid Society. After serving as a law clerk to a sitting judge of the Supreme Court of India, Pratik became one of the first lawyers to join an economic policy think tank of the Indian Finance Ministry. Over the past six years, he has worked closely with the Indian government and several expert committees in giving legal shape to the most momentous financial reforms in India. These include drafting the Indian Financial Code and the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016; setting up the Monetary Policy Committee; and merger of the Indian commodities and securities regulators. These experiences motivated Pratik to develop a deeper understanding of the conceptual foundations underlying the interactions between finance, economics and law.

After graduating from Oxford, Pratik intends to pursue a career in interdisciplinary research and teaching.
