Researcher, writer and editor with specific interest in prisons and rehabilitation
Rachel leads the RSA’s Future Prisons project, which will publish in Autumn 2016. She is also designing the new government backed Second Chance Network, which aims to boost practical innovation that supports rehabilitation. Rachel has worked in the area of prison reform for 10 years, most recently setting up Transitions Spaces, a community interest company concerned with developing practical approaches to rehabilitation. Prior to this, Rachel worked in the voluntary sector, thinks tanks and in government as a Special Advisor. Her particular interests are in leadership and in how service user, workforce and community engagement can be designed to support rehabilitation. She is author of: ‘The Learning Prison’ (2011), ‘Transitions’ (2014) and ‘Building a Rehabilitation Culture’ (2014), all published by the RSA.
