    Science writer and broadcaster

    Having completed his PhD in particle physics, Simon joined the BBC and was a producer on Tomorrow’s World and Horizon. In 1997 he wrote Fermat’s Last Theorem, which was the first mathematics book to become a number one bestseller in Britain. Simon is also the author of The Code Book, a history of codes, and Big Bang, a history of cosmology. Simon’s latest book is Trick or Treatment? Alternative Medicine on Trial. He has presented the television programmes The Science of Secrecy on Channel 4, Mind Games on BBC4 and The Serendipity of Science and Five Numbers on BBC Radio 4.
