  Simon is an evolutionary biologist who thus far has had a very unusual career path. Though he has spent the vast majority of his working life as an educator in one form or another he has somehow bypassed becoming a teacher. Instead, he has favoured jobs which allow him to dress up funny and flit through the centuries with reckless abandon and to date he has professionally pretended to be: a plague doctor, a world war one soldier, a Viking slave trader, a medieval monk, a Tudor bar steward, Biggles, Ian Fleming and a Victorian scamp. In the past five years Simon has used information to entertain hundreds of thousands of people, in schools, colleges, and universities, at science festivals, food and drink festivals, music festivals, on the streets, in museums and theatres, and on the internet, radio and television. Most recently he has worked as a presenter on Channel 4’s Inside Natures Giants. Ready, Steady, Science!
