PEOPLE

  • Dr Steve Poole

Principal Lecturer in History and Director of the Regional History Centre

University of the West of England

Steve is an eighteenth century social historian with an interest in political protest movements, the governance of disorder, and the perennial disappointments of being a Crystal Palace supporter. He received a National Teaching Award in 2006 for work in reflective learning and has published two books, one about attempts upon the lives of past monarchs, ‘The Politics of Regicide’, and another about the great 18th century republican, democrat and ‘acquitted felon’, John Thelwall. He works in Bristol, lives in Somerset and would most like to be sitting on a cliff in the Shetland Isles.
