    Val Aston is a PhD Candidate at University of East Anglia, where she is currently carrying out research relating to the legal framework around the police surveillance of political assemblies and social movements. Val is also a founder member and director of Netpol, the Network for Police Monitoring, which monitors the policing of protest and supports protesters to seek legal challenge to policing which restricts rights to freedom of expression and assembly.
