    student, economics for development

    University of Oxford

Victoria is a student at the University of Oxford, currently reading for an MSc in economics for development. Her undergraduate degree in economics and environmental science was completed at the University of Cape Town in 2015.

She has dedicated most of her academic studies to understanding the economics of food security as a means to achieving poverty alleviation in her home country, South Africa. Her passion for research in this regard is clear, with one paper selected for presentation at the Agricultural Economists Association of South Africa, and another awarded as the top economics thesis focusing on development in Southern Africa.

In between her studies, she was working as a researcher at the Western Cape Department of Economic Development, where she was primarily responsible for publishing analysis on topical issues in the Quarterly Economic Bulletin – ranging from the waste economy to inequality and digital disruption.
