PROJECTS

Though the primary focus of Debating Matters is the running of our annual UK competition, we are keen to work with others on related projects of mutual interest.

Recently we have worked with the University of Ulster to host a series of stand-alone Debating Matters debates for students in Northern Ireland, have run two successful day-long projects with the Aimhigher Peninsula Programme to run an experimental day of debates for younger students, and launched Debating Matters India in partnership with the British Council India which has just finished its second highly successful year, with over 400 Indian schools taking part across four of the country’s key cities.

Our latest project is the Global Uncertainties Schools Network, developed in partnership with the Research Councils UK (RCUK) as part of their ‘Global Uncertainties: Security for all in a Changing World’ programme. Through an initial series of six events, the project will facilitate lively discussion and debate around some of the core research areas of the Global Uncertainties programme.

If you would be interested to explore ways of working with Debating Matters to run an event or project outside of our main competition, or indeed to get Debating Matters going in another country, please contact Tony Gilland.
