As Debating Matters continues to expand, alumni help in organising, chairing and judging at events becomes invaluable. As an alumna/us of the competition, you could help to ensure the smooth-running of the Qualifying Rounds by helping out on the day, either generally by helping to set-up and run the event, or as a chair or judge. With 48 Qualifying Rounds across the country, there is bound to be one near to you. By the time that we reach the Regional Finals and National Final stage of the competition, events become more complex and the team need assistance in all kinds of areas, whether its mentoring teams, dealing with press, co-ordinating film crew or logistical help.

Debating Matters will also be expanding the range of activities in which alumni can get involved. We run journalistic workshops for those that are interested in contributing to the writing of Topic Guides, the competition’s highly acclaimed educational resources and are also looking to organise media training and more workshop activities throughout the year. 

Participants of the first Debating Matters India competition have also set their own alumni group up and are looking to assist in the future running of the competition there. As Debating Matters extends to other countries, we hope that a global network will begin to emerge, meaning you’ll have the exciting opportunity to engage with other Debating Matters Alumni across the world.
